Lotte 3, LG 0
W - Lee Yong-hoon(1-0), L - Lee Beom-joon(0-1), S - Jon Adkins (2)
Lee Yong-hoon turned in a terrific outing last night. It felt like everything was a groundball directly at someone or a lazy fly ball. Lee worked 6 innings(54 pitches, 39 strikes) allowing only 3 hits with 1 K. He changed speeds well and none of the LG hitters were really able to dig in against him. The only scoring in this game came in the top of the 6th. With Cho Seong-hwan on base, Hong Seong-heun delivered an RBI double to put Lotte on the board. Lotte catcher, Kang Min-ho followed with a 2-run homer to left. Jon Adkins retired the last two hitters to earn his 2nd KBO save. Jerry Royster must be thrilled to have a reliable(so far) option in the back of his bullpen.
Seoul Heroes 5, Samsung 1
W - Lee Hyeon-seung (1-0), L - Cho Jin-ho (0-1)
5-1 makes this game sound close. Samsung didn't even get on the board until the 9th inning. Hyeon Jae-yoon hit a solo homer for Samsung's only run last night, but Kim Sang-soo has continued to get on base. Kim was 1-3 with a double and a walk. Samsung starter, Cho Jin-ho, made a few mistakes and the Heroes made him pay for them. Heroes DH Cliff Brumbaugh had another solid day at the plate. Cliff finished 1-2 with 2 waks, a double, 1 run and 1 RBI. His double came during a 2-run rally in the 3rd inning. Heroes starting pitcher, Lee Hyeon-seung turned in a solid effort last night. Lee threw 5 innings(98 pitches, 60 strikes) of shutout ball. He allowed 6 hits and 3 walks with 5 K's. The more I watch this Heroes team, the more I think they might be in contention for that 4th playoff spot.
Hanwha 3, Doosan 2
W - Song Jin-woo (1-0), L - Noh Kyeong-eun, S - Brad Thomas (1)
I'd love to tell you what happened here, but I don't believe this game was actually broadcast. Naver archives every game and the links are all dead. No broadcast. No highlights. Strange. So, based only on the boxscore...let's see here...Doosan didn't score until the 6th inning and Hanwha still used 6 pitchers. Hanwha starter Ahn Yeong-myeong used 80 pitches during his 3 1/3 innings of work. He walked 4 and surrendered 2 hits, but he didn't allow any runs to score. Doosan starter Kim Sang-hyeon got the tough luck ND. He tossed 6 innings(76 pitches, 48 strikes) allowing 1 run on 4 hits and 1 walk with 6 K's. The only run surrendered by Kim came on Kim Tae-gyun's solo homer in the 7th. Hanwha rallied for all 3 of its runs in the 7th. Kim started the inning with the homer, then Kang Dong-woo and Yoon Jae-kuk drove in runs with out hits. I'm guessing the bases were somehow loaded. Brad Thomas retired the final 4 batters of the game for his first save.
KIA 6, SK 4
W - Seo Jae-wong(1-0), L - CJ Nitkowski (0-1)
"I thought CJ was starting last night." "He did." "Oh, I tuned in at the 2nd inning." - Actual conversation I had with a friend of mine last night.
CJ was battered for 3 runs on 4 hits with 1 K. Choi Hee-seop clubbed a 2-run bomb to give KIA a 3-0 advantage. This was not the start CJ wanted, but to his credit, he is trying to stay positive. I'm not sure I agree with his "6 out of 7" assessment, though. KIA was leading 6-0 in the 8th when SK finally mounted a fake rally. KIA brought in Aquilino Lopez in the 8th and he...gave up another run. That's a bad habit of his. KIA third baseman, Ahn Ji-hong had a very nice game last night. He went 3-5 with a double, 1 SB, 2 runs and 2 RBI's. Seo Jae-wong turned in an excellent outing last night. Seo tossed 6 shutout innings(97 pitches, 68 strikes). He allowed only 3 hits and 2 walks with 3 K's. There was a lot of fist pumping and glove hitting every time he walked off the field. I had the sense that this outing gave Seo a huge boost in confidence. If he can give KIA a solid one, two punch with Yoon Seok-min, the Kitties could be formidable this season.

Sorry about my beloved Heroes dismantling your beloved Lions so thoroughly this week. Last year's 11 game losing streak to drop them from 3rd to last was a tough time to be a Heroes fan, but this year they look real good. on offense anyway...that bullpen is bound to lose more than few games for us this year. Nothing more to add here...just wanted to post, let you know I have you bookmarked as my main source on the KBO....keep it up, and Go Heroes! Go Blue Jays! (I always wind up cheering for the red-headed step sons on the baseball leagues)
Hey, could you give me a little help on the highlights on Naver? Ever since the beginning of the season they have not worked for me. Best as I can tell (I don't read Korean)it wanted me to download silverlight, which I already have. I have tried three different browsers (IE, Firefox, and Safari) so any help you can provide would be much appreciated.
Yeah, this is a great site! I'm a Korean living in America (and for a long time too) and still enjoy watching two leagues (MLB/KBO). Up until 2005 i Think, it was very rare (and i mean RARE~) to watch KBO games from America, but with the helpful internet service from Naver and others (like this site), I'm thankful to fully enjoy the comments and reviews a lot easily than before.
I was also surprised (from this site) on how many foreigners also watches and enjoys KBO game (mainly from this site). It's quite jealous for me that some of you guys has a opportunity watch those KBO players, and really... being apart from Korea for so long, that I didn't know this baseball organization is being recognized and is reaching out slowly, but surely to the rest of the world. And as a Baseball fan, I appreciate in every effort of post and making this site.
