7/31 - 8/2 Weekend Roundup: Doosan vs. SK

7/31 -Doosan 6, SK 4
8/1 - Doosan 5, SK 1
8/2 - SK 11, Doosan 4

This was a depressing weekend to be an SK fan. SK lost the series to their most bitter rival, fell out of first place and it looks like Kim Kwang-hyeon is going to be out for AT LEAST 6 weeks thanks to a broken hand. A line drive struck the SK ace in his pitching hand during the 3rd inning on Sunday. Kim had to be carted off in an ambulance.

A 6-run rally in the 6th inning and some solid relief pitching were enough to earn the W on Friday night. 1st baseman Choi Joon-seok hit a 3-run bomb and Lim Tae-hoon tossed 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

It was more of the same on Saturday. Doosan suffocated the SK offense thanks to a little solid pitching and a lot of solid defense. The Bears scored 4 in the 2nd inning and never looked back. Right fielder Lim Jae-cheol lead the way by going 2-4 with a walk, a homer, 4 RBIs and 1 run scored.

SK was able to save some face by pummelling Doosan on Sunday, but SK lost its ace for the rest of the regular season and possibly into the playoffs. SK swingman Goh Hyo-joon tossed 5 scoreless innings of relief while the Wyverns took their frustrations out on the Bears pitching staff. Center fielder Kim Kang-min went 3-5 with a homer, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
