2009 KBO Playoffs: Round 1, Game 2

Doosan 6, Lotte 0
W - Geum Min-cheol, L - Jang Won-joon
The series is tied, 1-1.

Doosan starting pitcher Geum Min-cheol looked like the seasoned vet, while Lotte starter Jang Won-joon looked like the converted reliever. Geum tossed 6 scoreless innings(96 pitches, 62 strikes) last night. He allowed only 6 hits and 1 hit batsman while striking out 3. Jang was battered for 4 runs in the 3rd inning. Most of the damage came on a 2-run RBI double by DH Choi Joon-seok.

Doosan left fielder Kim Hyeon-su went 2-4 with a triple and a homer. Both hits came in the late innings with Doosan already up by a few runs. I'm not saying he's the KBO's version of ARod. He hasn't kissed the mirror or lied to Katie Couric yet.

The next game is October 2nd at 1:30 PM Korean time. Song Seung-joon(13-8, 4.72 ERA, 1.45 WHIP in 167 2/3 innings) will take the hill for the Giants and he will be opposed by, erm, "rookie sensation" Hong Sang-sam(9-6, 5.23 ERA, 1.58 WHIP in 117 innings). Hong suffered from the Jamie Moyer Complex this season. He was solid before anyone had seen him. Now that he's been through the league more than twice, he gets battered.
