Samsung 2, LG 0
W - Cha Woo-chan (8-1), L - Choi Seong-min (1-1), S - Ahn Ji-man (9)
Samsung HR - None LG HR - None
Both teams played like they wanted to get out of the rain. The only difference was that LG starter Choi Seong-min was a little more eager to help the opposition than Samsung starter Cha Woo-chan was. Choi gave up only two hits during his 5 2/3 innings(106 pitches, 50 strikes) of work, but he walked eight(!) and hit one batter. It seems like every year around late August LG debuts some new, young starter and he falls flat on his face. Choi is merely the 2010 version. Samsung starter Cha Woo-chan limited the Zombies to only two hits during his seven shutout innings(107 pitches, 65 strikes). Cha gave up four walks and one hit batsman while striking out six.
Hanhwa 2, Doosan 1
W - Julio Depaula (6-11), L - Lim Tae-hoon (9-11), S - Park Jeong-jin (9)
Hanhwa HR - None Doosan HR - None
Hanhwa managed to push across a pair of runs in the early innings and they found a way not to choke away the lead. Julio Depaula looked as mediocre as ever, but he kept the Bears off the scoreboard for most of the afternoon. Depaula threw 5 1/3 innings(109 pitches, 61 strikes) of one-run baseball. Julio gave up only three hits, three walks and one hit batsman while striking out five. Hanhwa infielder Jeon Hyeon-tae went 1-2 with a pair of walks, a pair of runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. Doosan starter Lim Tae-hoon and KIA starter Seo Jae-wong should start a support group. Both of them can't win for trying. Lim threw seven innings(109 pitches, 61 strikes) of two-run baseball and still took the loss. Lim gave up five hits, three walks and one hit batsman while striking out six.
SK 10, Lotte 5
W - Jeon Byeong-doo (2-1), L - Lee Jeong-hoon (2-9)
SK HR - None Lotte HR - Park Jong-yoon (8)
Lotte actually held a 5-4 lead heading into the seventh inning, but the Wyverns rallied for six runs during the seventh and eighth innings against the Lotte bullpen. SK tied the game on an RBI ground out from shortstop Na Ju-hwan and took the lead on an RBI single from center fielder Kim Kang-min. SK third baseman Choi Jeong lead the Wyverns offense by going 3-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. SK reliever Jeon Byeong-doo threw four innings of scoreless relief to ice the game for the Wyverns. Jeon gave up only two hits and one walk while striking out four. Lotte first baseman Park Jong-yoon went 2-4 with a double, a homer and four RBIs in a losing cause for the fourth place Giants.
