8/6 Roundup and News

Samsung starter Francisco Cruceta was chased from the game in the first inning and the Samsung bullpen didn't fare much better. LG right fielder Lee Taek-geun was on base all day. Lee went 2-3 with two walks, a double, two RBIs, one run scored and a stolen base. Center fielder Lee Dae-hyeong went 1-4 with a walk, a double, two RBIs, one run scored and a stolen base.

SK 8, Nexen 4
W - Kim Kwang-hyeon (13-4), L - CJ Nitkowski (0-2)
SK HR - Park Jae-hong 2(7) Nexen - None

SK ace Kim Kwang-hyeon turned in a quality start, while Nexen's CJ Nitkowski...didn't. Kim threw seven innings(113 pitches, 67 strikes) of shutout baseball. Kim gave up only four hits, three walks and one hit batsman while striking out seven. Nitkwoski was chased from the game in the second inning after giving up five runs on six hits. SK left fielder Park Jae-hong lead the SK offense by going 2-3 with a walk, two homers, three RBIs and two runs scored. Center fielder/lead off man Kim Kang-min went 3-4 with a walk, one RBI, two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases.

Lotte 11, Hanhwa 3
W - Song Seung-joon (10-6), L - Choi Yeong-pil (1-3)
Lotte HR - Hong Seong-heun (26), Lee Dae-ho (32), Cho Seong-hwan (5) Hanhwa HR - None

The Lotte offense brought the pain while starter Song Seung-joon turned in a quality start. DH Hong Seong-heun and Lee Dae-ho had almost identical days at the plate. Hong went 3-4 with a walk, a double, a homer, three RBIs and three runs scored. Lee went 3-4 with a walk, a homer, three RBIs and two runs scored. Song pitched seven innings(102 pitches, 71 strikes) of three-run baseball. Song gave up eights hits, one walk and one hit batsman while striking out five.

Doosan 3, KIA 2
W - Hong Sang-sam (3-2), L - Aquilino Lopez (2-9), S - Lee Yong-chan (23)

KIA held a 2-1 lead heading into the seventh inning, but the Bears started a rally. Doosan loaded the bases with two outs. Doosan shortstop Son Si-hyeon poked a single into left field that scored a pair of runs and gave Doosan a 3-2 lead. Son finished the day 3-5. Doosan's human victory cigar, Hong Sang-sam, got the start. Hong turned in his finest outing of the season. Hong tossed six innings(87 pitches, 58 strikes) of two-run ball. He gave up six hits and two walks while striking out two. Doosan closer Lee Yong-chan threw a scoreless ninth for the save. KIA starter Aquilino Lopez' tough luck continued. Lopez threw 6 2/3 innings(138 pitches, 86 strikes) and gave up all three Doosan runs. Lopez surrendered eleven hits and two walks while striking out three.
