9/1 Roundup and News

SK 3, Doosan 0
W - Ken Kadokura (14-6), L - Kelvin Jiminez (14-5), S - Song Eun-beom (5)
SK HR - None Doosan HR - None

SK starter Ken Kadokura was simply too much for Doosan and the SK offense provided just enough runs to get SK a W. Kadokura tossed 7 1/3 shutout innings(99 pitches, 65 strikes). Kadokura gave up four hits and two walks while striking out six. SK second baseman Jeong Geun-woo swiped two bases while going 2-4 with a run scored. Outfielder/first baseman Park Jeong-kwon went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Song Eun-beom recorded the final four outs for the save.

Nexen 5, Samsung 4
W - Song Shin-yeong (5-5), L - Tim Redding (0-1), S - Son Seung-rak (23)
Nexen HR - None Samsung HR - Chae Sang-byeong (1)

This one was hard to watch. Samsung took a 3-2 lead when first baseman Kang Bong-gyu hit a two-run double. The Lions promptly gave the lead right back to Nexen in the bottom of the fifth inning when left fielder Yoo Han-joon hit an RBI double and DH Song Ji-man hit a two-run double. Song finished the night 1-2 with a walk and three RBIs. By the time the dust had settled, Nexen was sitting on a 5-3 lead. Samsung picked up a late run on an RBI single by outfielder Lee Yeong-wook, but it was too little, too late for the second place Lions.

LG 8, Lotte 7
W - Park Hyeon-joon (2-2), L - Ryan Sadowski (9-8), S - Kim Kwang-su (4)
LG HR - Lee Byeong-gyu (12), Cho In-seong (26) Lotte HR - Karim Garcia (26), Jeon Joon-woo (16)

The Giants came almost all the way back from an 8-2 deficit with a five-run rally in the ninth inning. All of the damage came against LG reliever Lee Beom-joon and most of it came with two outs. Outfielder Jeon Joon-woo capped the rally with a three-run homer and LG finally gave Lee the hook for Kim Kwang-su. It took Kim five pitches to strike out first baseman Park Jong-yoon for the final out. This game got out of hand when Ryan Sadowski came out for the seventh inning and ran into some bad luck. LG was nursing a 3-2 lead when First the Lotte D had a little trouble with their gloves. Second baseman Park Kyeong-su lead off the inning and reached on an error. Park hit a ground ball up the middle that was picked cleanly by the Lotte shortstop, but the throw was a little wide and first baseman Park Jong-yoon couldn't find the handle. The next batter, center fielder Lee Dae-hyeong, bunted to move Park into second, but the throw from Sadowski bounced away from second baseman Cho Seong-hwan. Cho was covering first on the play and all the runners were safe. This was the beginning of the end for Sadowski. LG right fielder Lee Taek-geun bounced a single down the right field line that scored the first run of the inning. Sadowski was pulled for Heo Joon-hyeok. Heo promptly threw a wild pitch to score another LG run and got himself yanked for Kim Il-yeop. Kim gave up a three-run homer to catcher Cho In-seong to cap the rally. The final line for Ryan was six innings(104 pitches, 63 strikes) and six runs allowed(but only three earned). Ryan gave up six hits and three walks while striking out six.
