Doosan 11, Lotte 4
W - Lee Hyeon-seung, L - Bae Jang-ho
Doosan HR - Jeong Su-bin Lotte HR - None
The series is tied 2-2
I really can't believe that Doosan came into Fortress Sajik and took both games. Doosan had the look of a beaten team after game two. I guess the off day did them some good because they've looked like a different ball club this weekend.
Lotte loaded the bases in each of the first two innings, but couldn't break through against Doosan starter Lim Tae-hoon. Doosan scored first in the top of the second. Doosan shortstop Son Si-heon singled to center and was sacrificed over to second by catcher Yang Eui-ji. Son would score on a single by third baseman Lee Won-seok. Doosan added a second run in the top of the fifth on RBI single from Choi Joon-seok. Lotte finally broke through in the bottom of the fifth when catcher Kang Min-ho singled with runners on second and third with two outs. The throw home from left fielder Kim Hyeon-su was on target, but it short-hopped before it reached the catcher and bounced away.
Doosan broke the 2-2 tie in the top of the sixth on an RBI single from backup catcher Yong Deok-han. Lotte threatend in the bottom of the seventh when they loaded the bases with two outs. Doosan brought in reliever Jeong Jae-hoon to face Kim Ju-chan. Jeong got Kim to hit a grounder to short on a 2-1 pitch to end the threat.
In the top of the ninth, things got out of hand. Backup outfielder Jeong Su-bin came in as a pinch hitter for infielder Goh Yeong-min and hit a three-run homer to put the game out of reach. Doosan wasn't done. After Jeong's blast, Lotte lost focus and a few fielding mistakes allowed Doosan to load the bases with two outs. Son Si-heon was walked to allow another run to score. Catcher Yong Deok-han it a grounder to short, but the throw was off target and all runners were safe. It was the second bad throw of the inning from Hwang Jae-gyun. Doosan center fielder hit his second double of the inning to clear the bases. Lee would score on a single from infielder Oh Jae-won to cap the rally.
This was a sloppy, sloppy game for the Lotte Giants. They made key mistakes in just about every facet of the game. I'm not sure if it's over-confidence or nerves in front of the home fans, but Lotte was playing like the team about to be eliminated and Doosan looked like the team with the series lead.
The series shifts back to Jamsil on Tuesday at 6 PM. Starters haven't been announced yet, but I'm guessing that both teams will go with their game one starters.
