Doosan 11, Lotte 4
W - Kim Sun-woo, L - Song Seung-joon
Doosan HR - None Lotte HR - Kang Min-ho
Doosan wins the series, 3-2
Doosan picked up right where they left off in game four. Already holding a 2-1 lead, Doosan hung a five-spot on Song Seung-joon and the Lotte bullpen in the third inning to put the game out of reach. Kim Sun-woo settled down and tossed five innings(73 pitches, 45 strikes) of one-run ball while the Doosan offense battered Lotte's pitching staff. Kim gave up seven hits and one walk while striking out two. Doosan backup catcher Yong Deok-han lead the Bears' offense by going 3-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored. Yong was also named series MVP by going 6-9 with four RBIs, three runs scored and a stolen base. Son Si-heon also chipped in with a 3-4, two double, two RBI, three run scored effort.
I've got a post-mortem piece for Busan Haps going up sometime soon for some more info on the series and the future for the Lotte Giants. I'll post a link as soon as its up.
The post season continues with the start of round two on Thursday at 6 PM Korean time in beautiful Daegu. The second-place Samsung Lions will play host to the Doosan Bears. Starting pitchers haven't been named yet, but my guess is Kelvin Jiminez starts for Doosan and the Lions send Cha Woo-chan to the mound for game one. Expect a series preview going up in the next day or so.
