4/26 Roundup and News

LG reliever Oh Sang-min was released by the Twins on Tuesday. A team official claimed it was do to a "private issue." Oh owned a 1.80 ERA in ten appearances and recorded one hold so far(H/T to Simon for pointing this one out to me)

Two games were rained out on a sloppy evening on the peninsula. I was surprised that any of the games were played last night.

Nexen 2, Hanhwa 0
W - Oh Jae-yeong (1-0), L - Ryu Hyeon-jin (1-4), S - Song Shin-yeong (5)
Nexen HR - None Hanhwa HR - None

Yeah. It's been that kind of year so far for Hanhwa ace Ryu Hyeon-jin. Ryu threw eight innings(127 pitches, 86 strikes) and gave up only two runs. Ryu allowed four hits and two walks while striking out ten. It's hard to win when your team can't score any runs.

Nexen starter Brandon Knight threw the ball pretty well until he appeared to tire in the seventh inning during a jam. Knight was shown exchanging words with one of his coaches in the tunnel after he was pulled. It didn't appear to be animated, but the team translator looked worried.

Knight tossed 6 1/3 innings(106 pitches, 59 strikes) of scoreless ball. Knight allowed six hits, three walks and a hit batsman while striking out one.

Nexen picked up a couple runs in the bottom of the seventh inning when left fielder Corey Aldridge hit an RBI single and right fielder Song Ji-man hit delivered an RBI sac fly.

Lotte 8, LG 5
W - Kim Sa-yul (2-1), L - Lee Dong-hyeon (0-1)
Lotte HR - None LG HR - Seo Dong-wook (1)

The Twins jumped out to a four-run lead after picking up a run in the second inning and rallying for three in the third. LG left fielder Lee Byeong-gyu hit an RBI single in the second and LG third baseman Jeong Seong-hoon hit a three-run double in the third.

Lotte picked up a couple runs to get back in the game and took the lead in the bottom of the seventh with a five-run rally. Lotte scored the first run of the inning on an RBI double from catcher Kang Min-ho to tie the game at four. Lotte loaded the bases and center fielder Hwang Seong-yeong singled into center to give Lotte a 5-4 lead. The next batter, third baseman Jeon Joon-woo, doubled to deep center to score a pair and push the lead to 7-5. Lotte added another run on an RBI groundout by shortstop Hwang Jae-gyun to push the lead to 8-4.

LG added a solo homer from second baseman Seo Dong-wook, but never really threatened in the late innings.
