The Hanhwa Eagles have signed another new non-Korean player to replace the recently cut Oneli Perez. Right-handed journeyman Denny Bautista should be joining the Eagles soon. Bautista was last seen in the major leagues in 2010 with the San Francisco Giants. He had spent all of 2011 with the Seattle Mariners AAA affiliate.
Three of the four games were washed out last night. Thanks again, rainy season!
KIA 7, Lotte 2
W - Travis Blackley (7-4), L - Ryan Sadowski (3-5)
KIA HR - Kim Sang-hyeon (9), Na Ji-wan (4)
Lotte HR - Lee Dae-ho (19), Hong Seong-heun (3)
KIA broke a scoreless tie in the third inning with a four-run rally. With runners on the corners and no outs, KIA shortstop Kim Seon-bin hit a RBI ground out for the first run on the game. Third baseman Lee Beom-ho hit a single to put KIA up 2-0 and left fielder Kim Sang-hyeon capped the rally with a two-run homer.
Lotte answered back in the bottom of the fourth with a solo homer from slugger Lee Dae-ho, but KIA put a three-spot on the scoreboard when DH Na Ji-wan connected for a three-run homer in the top of the fifth.
Hong Seong-heun hit a solo homer in the seventh inning that proved to be the final run that Lotte would score last night.
KIA starter Travis Blackley was solid again. Big Trav is riding a three-game winning streak with quality starts in all three games. Travis threw seven innings(102 pitches, 68 strikes) of two-run ball. Travis only allowed seven hits while striking out nine.
Lotte starter Ryan Sadowski was charged with all seven KIA runs. Sadowski stuck around for five innings(93 pitches, 54 strikes), but gave up seven hits, three walks and a hit batsman while only striking out three.
