7/7 Roundup and News

Both Lotte/Doosan and SK/Samsung were washed out last night.

LG 4, Hanhwa 1
W - Radhames Liz (6-7), L - Jang Min-je (1-4), S - Ben Jukich (1)
LG HR - Cho In-seong (12), Park Yong-taek (12)
Hanhwa HR - Park Noh-min (2)

LG starter Radhames Liz enjoyed one of his best starts in the KBO last night. Liz tossed six innings(105 pitches, 65 strikes) of one-run baseball. Liz gave up four hits, three walks and two hit batsmen while striking out eight.

LG catcher Cho In-seong blasted a solo homer during a two-run rally in the second inning to give LG an early lead. DH Park Yong-taek added a solo homer in the sixth inning to push the lead to 3-0.

Hanhwa got one back in the seventh with a solo homer in the seventh from catcher Park Noh-min, but LG added some insurance in the ninth inning to give us our 4-1 final.

LG starter Ben Jukich threw two innings(24 pitches, 17 strikes) of scoreless relief to earn his first KBO save. Jukich retired six in a row and struck out two.

KIA 7, Nexen 5
W - Seo Jae-wong (4-6), L - Kim Seong-tae (3-6), S - Yoo Dong-hoon (6)
KIA HR - Lee Beom-ho (15)
Nexen HR - None

KIA starter Seo Jae-wong threw five+ innings(81 pitches, 55 strikes), but was tagged for four runs before getting the hook in the sixth inning.

For Seo's sake, Nexen starter Kim Seong-tae and the parade of relievers that followed were slightly worse and Seo was able to earn a gift W.

KIA third baseman Lee Beom-ho started the scoring for the Tigers by blasting a two-run homer in the first inning. Seo(and KIA) promptly gave the lead back by giving up three runs in the top of the second, but KIA rallied again in the bottom of the second. With runners on first and second with two outs, KIA center fielder Lee Yong-gyu hit a double over the head of Nexen center fielder Jang Ki-yeong to score both runners. Jang was playing really, really shallow and the ball carried over his head.

KIA added runs in the third, sixth and seventh, while the Nexen Heroes couldn't manage much after Seo was yanked in the sixth.

KIA shortstop Lee Hyeon-gon went 2-4 with a run scored and a RBI. Nexen left fielder Corey Aldridge went 2-3 with a walk and a run scored in a losing cause.
