Weekend Roundup: 9/5 Games

Hanhwa 3, LG 1
W - Ryu Hyeon-jin (11-11), L - Bong Jung-geun (10-12), S - Brad Thomas (11)

This game drew almost 15,000 fans. It had to be because of the pitching matchup. It certainly couldn't have been because of the other 16 guys playing. Hanhwa ace Ryu Hyeon-jin got the better of LG ace Bong Jung-geun. Ryu tossed 8 2/3 innings(118 pitches, 74 strikes) of 1-run ball. Ryu gave up only 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6. Brad Thomas needed 3 pitches to record 2 outs and the save. Do you think he even needed a shower after the game? Bong gave up 3 runs during his 7 innings(121 pitches, 78 strikes) of work. Bong allowed 6 hits, 3 walks and 3 hit batsmen while striking out 4. I think I've already spent too much time writing about this game. Hanhwa 2nd baseman Lee Yeo-sang drove in 2 runs while going 1-3 with a HBP. Good for him.

SK 2, Lotte 1
W - Gary Glover (6-3), L - Lim Kyeong-wan (4-1), S - Jeong Dae-hyeon (10)

Gary Glover put the Wyverns on his back and dragged them to victory on Saturday. The Glove tossed 8 2/3 innings(98 pitches, 71 strikes) of 1-run ball. He gave up 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. Jeong Dae-hyeon recorded the vulture save by getting the last out. With the score tied at one in the bottom of the 7th, SK mounted a rally. With one out right fielder Park Jae-sang singled to center. The next batter, 2nd baseman Jeong Geun-woo, singled through the left side to put runners at the corners with one out. Jeong attempted a stolen base, but was caught in a rundown. Lotte 1st baseman Park Jong-yoon threw the ball into left field and Park was able to walk in from 3rd to give SK a 2-1 lead.

Doosan 15, KIA 7
W - Kim Sang-hyeon (6-6), L - Yoon Seok-min (9-4)

Just as I was getting ready to announce Yoon Seok-min as my Pitcher of the Year, he goes out and gets absolutely pantsed. Jose Bleeping Contreras would have been proud of this effort. Yoon gave up 10 runs on 10 hits, 1 walk and 1 hit batsman. He did manage to strike out 1 batter during his 3 2/3 innings of work. Doosan's Juan Cedeno wasn't much better. He gave up 7 runs during his 4 1/3 innings, but reliever Kim Sang-hyeon saved the day for the Bears. Kim tossed 4 2/3 shutout innings of relief. Kim allowed 2 hits while striking out 5. Doosan's offense was powered by homeruns from DH Choi Joon-sik, shortstop Son Si-hyeon and catcher Choi Seung-hwan. Choi Joon-sik lead the offense by going 4-5 with 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Possible MVP candidate left fielder Kim Hyeon-su went 2-3 with 2 walks, a double, a triple, 3 RBIs and 2 run scored.
