Doosan 9, KIA 3
W - Kim Sun-woo (13-5), L - Roman Colon (7-7)
Doosan HR - Kim Hyeon-su (21) KIA HR - Choi Hee-seop (19)
Doosan basically did whatever they wanted to do to KIA. If they wanted to hit, they hit. If they wanted to run, they ran. If they wanted to record outs, KIA didn't offer much resistance. KIA starter Roman Colon was lit up for six runs during his 3 1/3 innings. Doosan started the game with a three-run rally in the first inning. Doosan stole three bases during the first inning rally. Everyone was constantly in scoring position. Doosan outfielder Kim Hyeon-su got a start at first base and looked comfortable there. Kim went 2-4 with a homer, five RBIs and two runs scored. Doosan lead off hitter/center fielder Lee Jong-wook went 2-3 with a walk, a double, three runs scored and a stolen base. Doosan starter Kim Sun-woo cruised to an easy W. Kim threw five innings(73 pitches, 50 strikes) of one-run baseball before getting lifted early. Kim gave up five hits and struck out five.
SK 8, LG 0
W - Jeon Byeong-doo (3-1), L - Kim Kwang-sam (6-6)
SK HR - Choi Jeong (19) LG HR - None
SK starter Jeon Byeong-doo took the ball the day after ace Kim Kwang-hyeon threw a gem against the Doosan Bears and outdid him. Jeon tossed seven shutout innings(101 pitches, 66 strikes). Jeon only allowed two hits and one walk while striking out six. It helped that LG played like a team ready for a month long golf vacation, but seven innings of two-hit baseball is seven innings of two-hit baseball. SK third baseman Choi Jeong went 1-3 with a homer, two RBIs and two runs scored. LG helped the SK offense by making three errors in the field on a brutal day for Twins fans.
Lotte 2, Samsung 1 (11)
W - Lim Kyeong-wan (3-4), L - Lim Jin-woo (2-1)
Lotte HR - None Samsung HR - None
It was just a matter of time, really. Samsung starter Bae Yeong-su left the game in the fourth inning with an ankle sprain and Samsung had to piece together the game with relievers. I kept waiting for someone to come in and give up ten runs, but it never really happened. Samsung took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on an RBI double from second baseman Shin Myeong-cheol. Lotte tied the game in the seven when a costly fielding error from Samsung third baseman Cho Dong-chan extended the inning. Jeon Joon-woo took first on the error, advanced to second when Cho Seong-hwan walked and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game. Lotte scratched across the game-winner in the bottom of the eleventh inning. Lotte put runners on first and second with one out. Outfielder Lee Seung-hwa hit a grounder to short. Lee Dae-ho was forced out at second, but the throw from second baseman Lim Ik-joon bounced away from first baseman Chae Tae-in. With runners on the corners and two outs, Samsung reliever Lim Jin-woo put a breaking ball in the dirt and it bounced away from catcher Hyeon Jae-yoon. Pinch runner Hwang Seong-yong was able to scamper in from third with the game winning run.
