9/5 Roundup and News

SK/Hanhwa was called off and rescheduled due to the typhoon.

Doosan 5, KIA 4
W - Lee Yong-chan (2-1), L - Ahn Yeong-myeong (6-7)
Doosan HR - Choi Joon-seok (19) KIA HR - Choi Hee-seop (20), Choi Hoon-rak (2)

KIA actually held a 4-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth. Reliever Ahn Yeong-myeong was asked to stay in for the ninth after recording the last out of the seventh and pitching the eighth. With one our recorded, Ahn gave up a walk to Doosan second baseman Goh Yeong-min. Outfielder Jeong Su-bin fouled out for the second out of the inning. With two outs, Doosan's Choi Joon-seok was asked to pinch hit for third baseman Oh Jae-won. Choi put an Ahn Yeong-myeong pitch over the left field wall for a walk-off, two-run homer.

Samsung 12, Lotte 5
W - Jang Won-sam (13-5), L - Bae Jang-ho (0-1)
Samsung HR - Park Han-yi 2(10), Jin Kab-yong (10) Lotte HR - None

Lotte started the game with a four-run, first inning rally, but watched starter Kim Su-wan and reliever Bae Jang-ho give it all back to the Lions. Kim and Bae weren't very good, but the real horror story was "reliever" Na Seung-han. Na turned this game from a tight affair to a laffer. Na needed 45 pitches to record three outs and he gave up seven runs during the sixth and seventh innings. Samsung outfielder Park Han-yi had a great day against some really mediocre pitching. Park went 2-4 with two homers, three RBIs and two runs scored. Backup infielder Kang Myeong-guh went 2-4 with three RBIs and a run scored.
