9/7 Roundup and News

It was a rough weekend for Doosan closer Lee Yong-chan. He was arrested for drunk driving.

Doosan 4, SK 0
W - Kim Seong-bae (1-1), L - Ken Kadokura (14-7)
Doosan HR - Lee Seong-yeol (22), Lim Jae-cheol (3) SK HR - None

Doosan starter Kim Seong-bae and three relievers limited the Wyverns to only two hits. Kim threw five shutout innings(56 pitches, 38 strikes) and allowed only one hit and one walk while striking out three. Doosan right fielder Lee Seong-yeol hit a solo homer in the third and center fielder Lim Jae-cheol hit a two-run homer in the fourth to power Doosan to victory.

KIA 8, Hanhwa 3
W - Yang Hyeon-jong (15-7), L - Yoo Won-sang (5-13)
KIA HR - Shin Jong-gil (1), Kim Sun-bin (1) Hanhwa HR - None

KIA starter Yang Hyeon-jong turned in a quality start and the KIA offense battered the Hanhwa pitching staff in this laffer. Yang threw six innings(103 pitches, 64 strikes) of one-run ball. Yang gave up two hits and three walks while striking out eight. KIA right fielder Shin Jong-gil lead the Tigers' offense by going 3-5 with a double, a homer, four RBIs and one run scored. Center fielder Lee Yong-gyu went 2-4 with a walk, three runs scored and a stolen base from the lead off spot.

Nexen 4, Lotte 3
W - CJ Nitkowski (2-4), L - Kang Yeong-sik (3-3), S - Son Seung-rak (24)
Nexen HR - Song Ji-man (15), Kang Byeong-sik (9) Lotte HR - Lee Dae-ho (42)

The Nexen Heroes broke a 3-3 tie in the eighth inning when DH Kang Byeong-sik hit a solo homer over the right field fence. Nexen closer Son Seung-rak recorded the final five outs for the save and the Heroes took a winnable game away from the fourth place Lotte Giants. Giants star corner infielder Lee Dae-ho is said to be nursing a calf injury. You wouldn't know it from the results last night. Lee went 3-4 with a homer, two RBIs and a run scored. Lotte starter Ryan Sadowski didn't deserve the ND he was stuck with. Ryan threw seven innings(105 pitches, 66 strikes) of three-run baseball. Ryan gave up eight hits and two walks while striking out three.
